Hi, I'm Pranav
Every Friday, I share my process, thoughts, stories, ideas, and weekly recommendations. We're a community of 100+ curious people reading these newsletters.
Last year September, someone tweeted that she needed someone to edit 2-3 simple videos for her company. Then I thought I should reply and tell her I can help edit the videos. But I thought I didn’t have any experience working in a company (though it was not full-time), I didn’t edit that well, and I had to learn more about Davinci Resolve (editing software), but I thought let’s reply and tell I can help. Also, it was my 12th grade going on. In India, 12th grade is the most important class for a student. So, I didn’t tell anyone about it.
Since we knew each other, we had a talk and I started working. Though I didn’t tell her that I didn’t know advanced editing, since the video needed basic edits, I started working.
So, I worked for about a month, edited 13-14 videos of 5-6 minutes and I was done with the work. During the one month, I learned how a startup works, how to do meetings, how to submit work (since it was my first-time experience working in an organization), I learnt some new things about Davinci Resolve, how to do work before the deadline, etc.
The point of this story is when some opportunities come and you don’t know how to do it or have basic knowledge about it, say yes and take that work and learn later. This will force you to learn fast and explore new things.
