Being internet original | #18
There are very few people on internet who say, I am going to be who I am
Hi 👋Pranav here
Welcome to 1 new subscriber. Currently, we are 44 curious people reading these newsletters every week.
I am on a mission to make a dent in the Indian education system and impact India. Subscribe if you want to impact India.
Every Friday, I share my process, my thoughts and some recommendations for good videos, podcasts, songs or anything interesting things I have consumed over the week.
So, people who follow my YouTube channel know that I am open about my thoughts and I don’t hesitate to tell them that I hate the Indian educational system. I don’t hesitate to tell my failures, how I was teased, etc.
I do this because I am original on-camera and off-camera. If you meet me at my home or in the mall, I’ll be the same. I feel social media is full filled with filters and people just share positive things like the new car update, new clothes, new mobile, etc. They don’t share behind the scenes, what is the actual story. This is why other people start comparing themselves to those people. People feel that those how share only positive things, have a perfect life, perfect car, perfect house, etc. They don’t see the failures or hard work of people.
There are two examples I look up to. Ranveer Alliahbadia and Ankur Warikoo. People who follow even one of them, know the kind of failures they have gone through. Ranveer got into alcohol and other bad habits due to him failing in college and Ankur Warikoo only had 5 months of money to survive at the age of 38-39. But when he started his courses and content he became stable. People connect more to failures than success.
The point I am trying to say here is, if you are a creator or even a normal person, share what you have gone through, your success and failure, your struggles. Manish Pandey (on Dr Sid’s podcast) said that "Very few people on the internet who say, ‘I am going to be who I am.” They don’t care if they are offending someone. For eg, If I am getting offended, by somebody, I think I made that choice to be offended. That person has nothing to do with it.” Manish sir says he has huge respect for the ones who share their stories.
I had written an almost similar newsletter a few weeks ago, about Be Who You Are, but that newsletter was about not defining yourself on the basis of what other people say and this one share that you should be original on the internet and life.
Thank you for reading the newsletter. If you believe someone wants to make an impact in India, do share this newsletter with them. It would mean a lot.
