Hi, I'm Pranav
Every Friday, I share my process, thoughts, stories, ideas, and weekly recommendations. We're a community of 140+ curious people reading these newsletters.
My College is really amazing. Since it has just started and it’s full of learning. I am also enjoying and learning new things. In this newsletter, I’ll tell you 5 things I did in the first month of college and what are my learned from college.
1. “Go with the intention of learning, not teaching.”
I wrote a newsletter on the same topic a few weeks ago, you can read that newsletter here. But to tell you briefly, I am the dumbest person in my friends circle. It means I am surrounding myself with the smartest people and learning from them.
2. Being Humble
There are many things I have done more than others, like internships, recently took a Notion session in my college, etc, but being humble is the key. There are many people who know and have done more than me. I want to learn from them and keep growing.4
3. Learnt to say No
There were many instances when my batchmates called me to a party to talk or to have fun, but at that time I needed to work on a project or study. I used to say no to them and just focused on myself. It’s not about not always ignoring them, but you should know about your limits and what to focus on.
4. Say yes to opportunities
It’s a contrary point to the last one, but trust me it helps. Last week, I took a session on Notion in my college. It was the first offline event that I took. The story is, that the management was looking for someone who could take a session on Notion and I said that I’ll take the session. I showed them my Fueler proof of work and they agreed to let me do the session. It gave me the opportunity to showcase my art, learn public speaking, manage crowds, organize, etc. If I would have said no, I wouldn’t have known where I needed to improve. So, take that opportunity lying in front of you and do it.
PS. I got a lot of requests from my friends to teach them Notion. That’s amazing that people want to learn from me.
5. Show up
You have to push yourself and show your face to the world. No one will do it for you. Like, every week, I write newsletters and show up on Friday. I rarely miss publishing.
I learnt this from my friend, Abhay, who is a great speaker. Wherever he gets a chance to speak, he’ll speak and share his knowledge, whether it’s in front of 10 people or 100 people. Today, people know that he can speak about anything and do any work done which is assigned to him. He showed up and got the opportunity.
