Hi, I'm Pranav
Every Friday, I share process, thoughts, stories, ideas, and weekly recommendations. We're a group of 100+ curious people reading these newsletters.
To those who don’t know I have a YouTube, I have named it ‘An Inquisitive Storyteller’. Here’s an interesting story of why I named my YouTube channel and newsletter.
In my school days, during every summer vacation, I used to go to my hometown. After lunch we all had not much to do, so my nanaji told stories to my cousin brother and me about Chintu’s (his fictional character) mischief in his summer vacations and other stories. That got my interest in stories.
Also, books were a big part of my life. My dad is an avid reader, so we always had books at home. He bought me storybooks and comic books. That got me into reading lots of stories.
I believe I am a very curious person. I love asking questions and am curious about how something works. For example, see the questions I have listed. They are just random questions, nobody thought about.
I got the idea of starting my YouTube channel in 9th grade, but I thought I should postpone it and do it after 10th because I couldn’t have maintained consistency. But luck would have it, my 10th and COVID pandemic started at the same time. But I still focused on learning and didn’t start making videos. One day, I was reading a book and I stumbled upon the word ‘Inquisitive’ and I didn’t know its meaning. I immediately Googled it and saved it as a screenshot. Then I forgot about it.
One day my then phone’s memory was about 99% and I thought I should delete useless memory. This was the time I was done with my 10th. Then While deleting, I stumbled upon the inquisitive screenshot and realised I could use it in my name. I thought I love telling and listening to stories. And I thought Steve Jobs was also a great storyteller. During this time I was listening to his speeches. Then I finally came up with the name ‘An Inquisitive Storyteller’.
Some of the content creators I wrote newsletters. Austin Kleon said that there are no original ideas and every original idea is a remix of an old idea. I took inspiration from the newsletters of Ankur Warikoo, Pradologue, Paul Millerd, Varun Duggi, Filter Coffee and Ali Abdaal and over time, it has evolved a lot.
I wanted to share my learning and the behind-the-scenes of my life and lots of stories in the newsletter. I came up with many names for it. I am journaling/writing a diary since 2012. I thought of keeping ‘The Diary of An Inquisitive Kid’ as it resembled my YouTube channel. So some of my friends suggested this name over other names and I went with it.
So that was a little backstory of how I came up with the content creation
