There’s a not so interesting story why I didn’t want to go to IIT or Bits Pilani
Until 8’th grade, I wanted to go to Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) and National Defence Academy (NDA). Both are in Pune and my living in Pune increased my fascination with studying in them. So I found out that in 11’th and 12’th NDA needed Math and AFMC needed Biology. I decided to take both and whichever subject lasted till last, I’ll take my respective college. But after coming to 10’th, I found out that I was not good at any of the science subjects. So I dropped the idea of going into both the collages. It was not easy to drop the idea as those were some of the best colleges.
So, since I was not going to AFMC or NDA or IIT, I listed the disadvantages of not going into these top colleges. Some of them were-
I won’t get a good network
Maybe good placements
Good education
4’th I haven’t got it yet 😅
For 2’nd and 3’rd I have internet and I can get a good education from many sources. But for a good network, I applied another trick. I connected with good people on Twitter and Instagram.
I shared this story to tell you why you should build you should build your network and I have a different (maybe a stupid) approach. It is said that NETWORK IS NET WORTH. And it is true. We are defined by the people we spend time together. So, one morning I was playing badminton and I was thinking about Shark Tank that the Sharks invest in valuable companies and help them scale on a large level. Similarly, we should be careful in choosing our friends and spend our time and energy with good people. Our time and energy is the most valuable thing. This is because of what our friends are doing, we tend to do that same thing and we don’t want to waste time doing that bad thing.
If I give you my example, I have many friends who create content. So they know the efforts and pain which goes into creating content. So, we always motivate each other, help each other and sometimes collaborate. They are the people who give me honest feedback about my work. They don’t just tell me I am correct, they point out the mistakes in me and my work. So, keeping good people around you is important for each other’s growth.
So from next time, remember your surrounding define you and always design it on how you want to grow yourself

I am currently reading ‘Start With Why’ by Simon Sinek. It’s based on how leaders inspire people by starting with why. I have just started it, so maybe I’ll tell you about this book next week.

Shark Tank India has bought a revolution in the Indian household. One of the sharks in it is Vinita Singh, co-founder of Suger Cosmetics and she and her co-founder (her husband too) came on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Figuring out and I loved listening to their journey from start to lots of success.
Varun Duggirala is one of my idols and he was featured on The Ranveer Show. They spoke about engineering, content creation and Varun’s book which was recently published. You should buy it. It will be worth reading.
