Hi, I'm Pranav
I work at Hive School, which is India’s First Sales School. I also create content on my YouTube where I share my processes and learnings.
Every Friday, in this newsletter, I share my process, thoughts, stories, ideas, and weekly recommendations.
Last Sunday, Roohi, a great podcaster, hosted a meetup in Delhi. She hosts a podcast called ‘Business Podcast with Roohi,’ where she interviews founders, creators, VCs, and podcasters. Her guests have included Kamal Ravikant, Siddhartha Ahluwalia, Jimmy Soni (Author of The Founders), Michael Gruen (Animal Capital), etc.
Here are 3 key points we spoke about and what I learnt from it.
Community is the key. It helps you a lot
She was in Bengaluru for about 3 months for her work and explored its startup culture. In those 3 months, she explored Bangalore a lot with the Fueler community. If you don’t know, Fueler is a platform where you can make your proof of work portfolio. It’s like Github but for generalists. They also have a big community. They explored a lot there and went to various events like Sahil Lavingia and Sahil Bloom Meetup and other events too.
A community helps you a lot in your work and helps you grow in your life. If you join the right community, there will be a lot of people who will be way better than you and can help you grow.
I have been a part of various online communities for the last 3-4 years and it has helped me a lot. I have made a lot of friends because of such communities and it’s one of the main reasons I am here today.
Keep giving your shot until you get it
Roohi has been building her podcast in public from the start.
She has been sharing:
Her process of how she is building her podcast
Her learnings from shooting them
Sharing who said no to coming on her podcast as a guest
She is directly cold reaching out to guests in public
Her stats
Success
And dream guests who she wants to do a podcast with
You should scroll through her Twitter. She is doing some crazy work with her podcast and one of the best examples of building in public.
Travelling teaches you a lot
I asked her, what did she learn from her Bangalore, Mumbai (she had been there too for a short time) and Delhi. She had a lot of points to add.
The people of the place and its vibe are a big part. You get to do and learn a lot if you go to an unknown place and spend time there.
I have lived in 4-5 cities and that has taught me a lot. I have met a lot of people and learnt a lot from them. The place also has it’s vibe. It’s always a great thing to travel.
Self-Plugin
Last week, I made a video on how I made the above weekly recommendations page on Notion and hosted it on super .so as a website. I shared a step-by-step method for making it.
A few months ago, I created a resource guide to help you start writing online. If you aspire to be a writer, you can get it: Access here.
