Hi, I'm Pranav
I work at Hive School, which is India’s First Sales School. I also create content on my YouTube where I share my processes and learnings.
Every Friday, in this newsletter, I share my process, thoughts, stories, ideas, and weekly recommendations.
For those who don’t know, I started working in Hive School 6 months ago. It has been an incredible journey and has been a roller coaster ride. I have learned a lot from there. I thought I hadn’t properly documented my journey of Hive School here. I have shared snippets from how I am working, but not done in a structured way.
I have been very inspired by
’s writings on Twitter and his newsletters where he writes about Proof of Work, Fueler, and his life as a startup founder. I thought I should also share my learnings and progress here. So, here’s what has happened in the last few months of building it.The Start
At the start of December, Nikhil the founder, messaged me saying he wanted to meet me to talk about what he was building in the education space and wanted to collaborate with me in some way. We met and he told me about his journey of working in the education space for 4+ years and now wanted to build a Sales School. He wanted to build the founding team. Since I wanted to work in the education space, I joined him.
In the start, we started working on the website. We build the entire website on Framer. I had almost 0 knowledge about Framer and Figma, but still, I took the challenge of making it. I build the entire website in 3 weeks. Nikhil and I used to sit almost all day designing it on Figma and experimenting with the elements on Framer. It was like a hackathon as we had a deadline and we both were new to the tools. But still, in 3 weeks got the first website out.
It was not just the website at the start, Nikhil on the other side, was making the curriculum and other things that go into making a collage. We also started shooting content for Hive School Socials. I suggested to him that we should build in public through our social before the official launch so that we get the initial traction and people get to know we are building something. So, we started sharing our everyday progress and learnings on our personal LinkedIn and Instagram. It helped us a lot in getting the initial traction and people started knowing about us.
Nikhil is a PGP student at Masters’ Union, where I am doing my UG from. Masters’ Union does a Venture Initiation Program (VIP), which helps the ones who are building starting up, helps with connecting with investors, gives grants, supports with all help, etc. Nikhil was building and doing his research for Hive School even before coming to Masters’ Union, but we also got into the VIP when it started. We have gotten a lot of help from the Masters’ Union and also got grants from them to work on Hive.
Hosted 2 events
SalesPreneur Season 1 | 10-11 February 2024
It was a 24-hour hackathon, where 40 participants participated in 5 challenges in groups. The participants didn’t sleep and were preparing the decks overnight.SaaS Mixer | 7 April 2024
We hosted a Mixer where 200+ industry leaders and founders came to meet each other and the founding cohort of Hive School. It was a great meetup. We also shot a few podcasts on that day.
We also hosted some of the students of the Founding Cohort at Nikhil’s home. It was fun talking to them and learning about their experiences.
What we are working now on?
LinkedIn gave us the most traction and people registered the most through it.
60% of the cohort is done. It was a hard journey to filter the great folks who had applied. We are closing our Founding Cohort of 25 students in 10 days (B2B & SaaS Sales).
We are also focusing on expanding our content on Twitter and YouTube.
That’s how the journey has been. It has been a great journey of ups and downs and lots of learning.
