Every Friday, I share my process, my thoughts, stories and ideas from books, the internet and life and some weekly recommendations
Last week there was function in my school called Cultural Feasta. Its basically a comptitition between 4 houses of school Red, Green, Blue, Yellow houses. There were events like dance, fashion show, dramaistics, Mono acting, debate, etc. I couldn’t participate as all the slots for participation were full. But I helped at the backend managing presentation, music, anhoring, etc. It happened on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, in the break after the first half, I met my friend and he told me that he’s anchoring in Mono Acting event. He asked me if I want to join him and divide the work. I was a bit reluctant in the start as I wanted to see the other events and just sit and chill out. But I thought, just go and do it and help in the event. Mono acting is where only one person acts the whole play.
I took my part which I had to speak and since it was compratevly small, I also handled the background music and background images. I later got to know the four judges who will be there, were great actors of plays and writers and they have worked/working in National School of Drama. The event finished in about 1-1.5 hours.
While the event was going on, I realised I had made the best decision to come here. I decided to ask questions and talk to the judges after the event. And I did. They gave suggestions to the partipants and it helped me too. I asked about 15-20 question to all of them combined about filming, witing, shooting, how to act in a play, art of face expression, etc. There were some other friends talking to them too. It was fun and knowlegable. I was with the judged for about 1-1.5 hours talking about various things.
If I wouldn’t have said yes to my friend, I would have missed the opportunity to meet such amazing people. I just wanted to relax and chill, I thought let’s give it a try and do it. Let’s not fear talking on the stage and do it
