2022 has been an amazing year. I learnt a lot this year. Last year I started being a part of online communities on Discord, Whatsapp, Telegram, etc. But this year, I started going to meetups and meeting people.
I love meeting people, talking to them and learning from them. In this newsletter, I’ll share all the meetups I have been to this year
Varun Dugirala in Book Fest by Kunzum
Kunzun organized Book Fest where they bought together authors, readers, book lovers, and everyone to talk about books. Varun Duggi was also invited. Since he’s my idol, I had to go.
Varun was in conversation with Reader Gitanjali Shegal where they discussed ‘What it Takes to Include Life in School Syllabus’. He was there o talk about his book ‘Everything Is Out of Syllabus’.
It was my fan moment when I met Varun Duggirala. I was the happiest person on Earth. I also met others who came there.
‘Josh Marathon’ by Josh Talks
On 31st July, I went to Josh Talks Meetup at Gurugram HQ. The event was called ‘Josh Marathon’.
This year India celebrated its 75th Independence and Josh Talks wanted to make something big. They showed 75 stories on their 9 YT channels from 1-15 August.
I wrote about this meetup in one of my previous newsletters. Click here to read that newsletter.
BlueLearn Delhi Meetup
Bluelearn is a student community that enables students to learn new skills, grow their network and get amazing opportunities. They have their communities Discord and app. So they hosted their meetup in Delhi's Purana Quila. It was my first time in Purana Quila and it was great. That day it was raining and some people had to cancel the plan to come to the meetup. We all played games like 2 truths, one lie where others have to guess which is truth and which is a lie. We all introduced ourselves and played this game. We all couldn't do other things as we had less time and the Quila was to shut at pm. But I was happy to meet Harish and talk to him and ask questions.
SKCF's Dil-wali Diwali
SK Children Foundation is an NGO providing quality teaching to underprivileged children of society. I met the Founder of SKCF Raghav Sharma at the Josh Talks meetup and it's where I got to know about SKCF. One day I was talking to a friend of mine who is a volunteer at SKCF and got to know about the Diwali celebrations they are doing. She invited me to the celebrations and I went. I was surprised to know how the children are connected with the organization and Raghav has done great work in changing their lives.
Polygon Guild: Made in India Roadshow
Polygon is a decentralized Ethereum scaling platform that enables developers to build scalable user-friendly dApps with low transaction fees without ever sacrificing security.
Polygon was doing this Made in India Roadshow to educate people about web3 and tell them how to build it. You can read more about it on their website.
I had a great time there. I met new people and got to know more about web3. I also got to meet Prado at the event. He writes amazing Twitter Threads and newsletters. Also met Riten, the Founder of Fueler.
Fueler Delhi Meetup
Fueler is one of the best platforms I have come across. It's a proof-of-work platform where you showcase your work. Riten Debnath, the founder of Fueler organized a Delhi meetup on 27th November. The meetup was in Humayun Tomb. We played games and spoke about different things like how startups work, business, movies, shows, Fueler's bts, Riten's learnings while building Fueler, Riten's iconic book (more on this in my future newsletter), etc. We all also toured the Humayun Tomb. I search on Google for the timings of Humayun Tomb and got to know it closes at 6 pm. We all thought to spend some time and go somewhere and eat something. We had a lot of fun time eating and it all ended on a good note with ice cream. Then we all went to our homes by metro.
It was great to meet amazing people in these meetups. I learned a lot from them. I explored new places because of meeting new people and friends. Like I visited Purana Quila for the first time because of Bluelearn's meetup, Humayun Tomb because of Fueler's meetup, and Josh Talks HQ for Josh Talks meetup. You won’t believe it, I sat in the Delhi metro for the first time exactly after 1 year of living in Delhi. I came to Delhi on 10 October 2021 and sat in the metro for the first time on 9th October this year while coming back from Bluelearn's meetup to back home. It was a great experience. It wasn't my first time in the metro, I had been to Bengaluru's Metro a long time ago, but Delhi Metros are also great.
